    BioLife ‘8 Bio C – 1001 Compostable’ is a unique product capable of converting petrochemical-based plastics into soil-like dust and, most importantly, while not affecting the quality of the soil and thus the habitat depending on it!

    The Need

    The challenge that plastics present to the environment is of global concern. This wonder material continues to find increased usage and life without plastics is increasingly impossible. With limited disposal options, this concern is very valid and needs innovative approaches / products to address. This surely has stimulated research in the field of biodegradation of polymers. It is an undeniable fact that the environment is disturbed and damaged with the prevalent approaches of open dumping, unscientific composting and improper landfilling; these are not acceptable in many countries.

    The BioLife Process

    BioLife masterbatch ‘8 Bio C – 1001 Compostable’ comes with a refreshing approach to address this grave issue. At the outset, it is easy to process along with polyolefins on any conventional plastic processing machine.

    On the end-product disposal (in vessel compost or landfills), the BioLife masterbatch attracts microorganisms that consume plastic. The gas starts releasing, and change is observed in the physical properties, strength, colour, shape etc. BioLife composts the plastic products into soil-like biomass which continues to further bio-degrade in the landfill under the influence of sunlight, moisture, bacteria and temperature. Finally, the plastic product degrades in the environment, becomes natural organic soil without negatively impacting the soil quality!
